26th November 2000 - Kyushindo Annual Seminar
Due to 5 days notice of this event the Romsey club was not represented and only Paul Chapelhow attended. This was held at the YMCA sports centre in Redhill, Surrey and was organised by David Frost, area coach for the Surrey clubs. The London clubs made a strong presence and there were members from the Abingdon and Oxford clubs. 'Independents' included Sam Simmonds and Martin Hardy. The day started with a warm up session from Bill Wheeler of the Banstead club, followed by a series of basics from Paul Sockett, area coach for London. The members then broke up into grade groups and were taken through various topics by a rotating panel of senior instructors. After the break for lunch Sam Simmonds took us through a 'Tai Chi' warm up and then the members moved onto combination training and finally finishing off with a few sparring rounds. After the closing words from David Frost and Paul Sockett, an award of 5th Dan to Peter Brazenor of the London club was made followed by a group photograph (coming soon).
