Paul Chapelhow and James Allenby attended the Annual KMAA seminar held in Potters Bar. Approximately 80 people attended (no Judoka this year?) and covered a variety of techniques. There were some 'new' Kyushindo clubs in attendance from Luton and they provided instruction for a large part of the afternoon session, to the black belts. Peter Braezenor, 5th Dan, from the London club provided an insight into the techniques and training methods that he had learnt from a 3 week trip to Japan. The usual sparring and bagwork sessions left everyone suitably sweaty. The day was finished off with a few demos with Romsey demonstrating the 1st Kung Fu Kata.
Unfortunately we took no pictures or movies so these will be coming as soon as we contact members from the other areas. James managed to get most of his weapons repertoire onto the video of Steve Luckett from Oxford, who also filmed the demos as well.
Thanks go to John Lacey-Smith of the Enfield club for organising a successful and enjoyable event (and for picking my name out of the raffle!!).

30 Students attended national Karate grading which was held at Belle Vue Boys school in Bradford on Saturday 22nd June 2002. James Kirk, the senior chief instructor of the Traditional Karate Academy, invited Ron Hancock, group examiner, to oversee the gradings and carry out final assessments.
The grading covered several areas which included Kata, footwork, teaching safety, first aid and management practices. Ron introduced yet more Kyushindo moves which included complex footwork patterns which were completed by those involved.
Those who were successful on the day were:

Kathrina Uleijczuk - 2nd Dan
Anthony McCarthy - 2nd Dan
Rebecca Hempsey - Black Belt shodan-ho
Rachael Chambers - Black Belt shodan-ho

The Oxford area and friends attended a seminar at Romsey to teach the weapons kata that are taught here. Alongside this unarmed techniques were shown followed by some intensive kicking practise and some 'full sacrifice' takedowns.
